Casting a large RPD framework? Spruing is critical.
When the RPD framework design incorporates a metal cast replacement tooth, BEGO recommends the following spruing technique:
The feeder sprue should attach directly to the tooth.
Position a reservoir equal in size to the replacement tooth about 4 to 5mm away from the tooth and on the sprue rod
This sprue technique will feed the metal tooth with alloy as the casting cools and the alloy shrinks - eliminating suck backs. This technique works well with any heavy area needed to be cast. BEGO hopes this technical tip will assist you in lowering the remake factor in your RPD department.
