Creating More Space on Attachment Cases

Technicians are always looking for more vertical space around the attachment area when it comes to combination cases. Keep in mind that the facial space we have to work with is equally important to ensure the esthetics of the future smile. One easy way to create more buccal space when using attachments is to mark the middle of the ridge, then rotate and position the attachment a few degrees to the lingual side of the middle of the arch (See Photo). As long as the path of insertion is in harmony and the attachments are parallel, the case will function well, giving you more space for esthetics in covering the housing.

Last tip: It is always very helpful to wax up all abutments or copings full contour and set up the acrylic teeth first. Fabricate a matrix and use this tool to position your attachments to the proper height! This E-Tech Tip will help you to create better esthetics on attachment cases.
