A Quick Tip when using Ringless Casting Rings

Prior to pouring investment into a ringless casting ring, spread a thin application of petroleum jelly (ie. Vaseline®) on the inside wall of the ring and on the base former. Phosphate crown & bridge or partial investments will not be affected, but you will see the following benefits:
  • Allows the investment to expand both horizontally and vertically, producing maximum expansion on non-precious alloys.
  • Fully set investment releases easily from the ring without breaking down or cracking.
  • Makes for easier cleaning of the ring and former.
  • Saves money by prolonging the life of the ringless casting ring.
This technical tip can also work for plastic RPD casting rings or formers. BEGO hopes this e-tech tip allows for more consistent investing and saves on clean up time.
