All Steamed Up

As more laboratories streamline, there's one piece of equipment that is extremely versatile - the steamer

BEGO USA Wax Profile Kit

Its variety of uses can assist every technician:
  • Cleaning of the master model using the wet steam setting - which is less abrasive than high pressure steam
  • Cleaning off pencil lines and design drawings on partial models
  • Cleaning the surface of C&B metal castings before applying ceramic
  • Removal of oxides on non-precious alloys after each porcelain application
  • Cleaning of ceramic surfaces of crowns after grinding or blasting
  • Removal of polishing pastes from alloy surfaces
  • Cleaning of full and partial dentures after polishing
However, with its many uses it's often overlooked during regular maintenance checks. Follow these helpful tips to keep the lab's unit running at full steam.
  • Heated water produces calcium and lime deposits which can build up over time in units; causing diminished performance, premature aging and costly repairs. Use a decalcifier solution once a month to ensure the unit's water lines and tank stay clear of debris (such as BEGO's Calex)
  • Stop unwanted sediment and minerals from entering the steamer by installing a demineralization cartridge before the waterfill solenoid
  • Store the spray-gun as recommended by the manufacturer. Improper storage can lead to blocked lines or damaged electrical wiring
